West Richland Real Estate
City of West Richland

This small city became a Washington Territory in 1853 and was incorporated into a city in 1955. It is separated from the city of Richland by a street, on the east side, and adjoins Benton City, on the west side. West Richland was a gold panning area, using the Yakima River, in the early days and also had rail access. It is still considered a rural area, within the Tri-Cities. In 1940 the Navy came into Richland and the nuclear development of Hanford began. Because of the proximity of West Richland to the Hanford site it is a great area in which to live.
This city is still growing. There are several mini-malls, a newer U.S. Post Office, gas stations, grocery store, a large sports complex, several parks and a golf course. The Yakima River is great for fishing. The City of West Richland has it´s own City Counsel, Fire Department and Police Department, Utility District and Irrigation District. As far as education, there are 2 elementary schools and a middle school. The high school starts in the 9th grade and is in the City of Richland. There are lots of home developments within the city but there is still an abundance of vacant land on which to build. The proximity to our wonderful highway systems makes this area very desirable.
